As I was reflecting on these verses, it reminded me of a prayer which I chose to respond. Few services back, David asked us to respond to 3 things and 1 of them was to surrender our life plans unto God. In v24 it says, ‘Then Jesus said to his disciples, if anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me’. This verse is applicable to the situation which I’m in now. Many a times, as human beings we always think that we are smart and capable in the things we do. So, we start planning for ourselves. We start to plan for our careers, our marriage, our savings etc… Personally, I have already plan for my own future. It’s like I have in mind a specific career that I’m interested in, I want to graduate with a degree of distinction, I want to earn a certain amount of $ by a certain age, I want to own a mini-cooper(just an eg.)...lots. Everything sounds good and realistic to me but what struck me was-is that the plan God has for me? Surrendering my life it’s not just about entrusting my weaknesses to God, it’s about entrusting my EVERYTHING to Him. It’s about surrendering my ALL to Him, even my life plans. Am I able to deny myself in this area to follow Him, to follow His plans for me? Truthfully, I would say I’m still challenged but I made the decision to respond because I want to surrender fully unto God and I trust that he has the best plans for me.
