Hi everyone, in another 25 hours, we are going to say goodbye to 2008 and welcome 2009. Since it's the end of the year, I would like to encourage everyone to take this time to reflect - what you've done in 2008. Run through the new year resolutions you've written for 2008. Yesterday after our first Uni-YA service at Kum Yan Methodist Church, our caregroup went to Raffles City for dinner. We settled our dinner at Shokudou. Our new sister, Hui Ru joined us for dinner too. Finally, there's someone staying near my house. Super high.. Let's get more west-siders to our CG! =)

1) Pray for opportunities for us to share with our non-believer friends about God and our lives with God. Pray that we will be sensitive to the Holy Spirit in speaking forth the purpose of God in our friends’ lives and showing them a God-purposed life. Pray that they will be open to our invitations for a great time of celebration as they are open to us and to God.

2) Pray for growth of cg in quality and in quantity. Pray that we will align our faith with deeds as we share and love the people around us. Show that we are God’s disciples through our love for one another as well.

2)Pray that God will help us to identify any strongholds in the lives of the people we sow on as we know them better and as we interceded for them. Pray that we will be ready to demolish any argument and pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of Christ as we also be prepared to give the reason for the hope that we have, sharing with gentleness and respect.

3)Pray for the group and personal sowing to be successful and also the unit event to be one that draws our non-believers friends to come to join us and church service. Pray for those who are planning and those who are sowing that we all may play various roles to establish God’s kingdom in bringing people to know Him as we make Him known. Pray for unity and love in ourselves and in the group.

Pray that we may be used as God’s vessels or channels to share the good news or gospel to those we are sowing on or reaching out to. Pray for arising faith and love as we reach out and share to the lost so that they may have faith hearing the message. Pray also that the people we sow on may recognise that Jesus is the Lord and their needs for God. As they call out to God or in prayer or in any way to experience more about God, they will be saved as they are convinced of God’s reality and God’s love for them in their lives.

2) Pray that as we recognise the power of the cross, we will demonstrate this faith in the power of cross through our sharing. Pray against any fear that may cripple us as God’s perfect love drives out all fear (1John 4:18-19) knowing that self-focus leads to fear and God-focus leads to faith. Pray that God may equip us with His words, knowledge and most importantly His heart of love and compassion as we do not give up in leading the lost to come to know Him personally.

3)Cast out the net by asking God for revelation of the ppl u may have lost touched with/ the ppl u want to and can sow on. Pray for the synergy to sow together w cg ppl and pray for effectiveness in sowing as we re-establish or continue our relationship with them.

1) Just as how God sought after us and blessed us and devoted to us because of His covenantal and unfailing love for us, pray that God will create in us a shepherd’s heart and a passion for the lost. Pray that we will identify God’s heart cry for the lost as we reach out to those who do not know Him personally.

3) In the season of Christmas, let us be reminded of God’s forgiveness for all our sins through Jesus’ death on the cross so that we may forgive one another for whatever grievances we may have. Pray for God’s forgiveness in our lives to become evident as we seek forgiveness, forgive ourselves and also people around us. Pray that we will grow in one or two key areas/ attitudes in our lives, be it in clothing ourselves with love, compassion, gentleness, humility or patience or others. Pray for peace and love of Christ to rule in our hearts always.

Hey Dudes and Dudettes!! We will be entering into a season of Fasting and Praying again!! and this time round we are doing it to prepare ourselves for a special occasion!! Can u guess it?? is Christmas!! is a time of not just only fun and gifts but also a time for us to renew and refresh our love for God and His people. Here is some "Tips and Tricks" on fasting:

IN SUMMARY-
1) fasting=declaring our reliance/dependance on God.
2) when we fast, its an expression that we place our trust(motive) on God, fasting is a method(means) we use to express our trust
3) fasting is not twisting God's arm ie. to force God to act upon what i want (this is fasting with a wrong motive)
4) fasting is not dieting

when we fast we...
1) concentrate on God= set aside the time spent to eat to pray and seek God
2) exercise self-control=we are not just physical being, we are spiritual being too. Through fasting, we can grow in the fruit of self-control.
3) feast (not on food) BUT on God= spend time with God, prayer and His word.

PRATICAL STEPS-
1) WHY FAST? set prayer points
2) WHAT DO I ABSTAIN FROM? usually we fast for one meal ( there are different aspects can ask ur shepherd abt it :))
3) WHERE DO I SPEND MY TIME WHEN I FAST? usually we are busy with work or school but the key to fasting is prayer, just remb to spend time with God to pray over your objectives. This is how time shld be spent. We can even gather together to pray for those who are in sch :)

True Fasting

2 For day after day they seek me out; they seem eager to know my ways, as if they were a nation that does what is right and has not forsaken the commands of its God. They ask me for just decisions and seem eager for God to come near them.
3 'Why have we fasted,' they say, 'and you have not seen it? Why have we humbled ourselves, and you have not noticed?' "Yet on the day of your fasting, you do as you please and exploit all your workers.
4 Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife, and in striking each other with wicked fists. You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on high.
5 Is this the kind of fast I have chosen, only a day for a man to humble himself? Is it only for bowing one's head like a reed and for lying on sackcloth and ashes? Is that what you call a fast, a day acceptable to the LORD ?
6 "Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke?
7 Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter— when you see the naked, to clothe him, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?

1) The people seem to do what is right (v2-3) but God is not pleased because of their ungodly lives (v3b-7). Pray for Holy Spirit to search in our hearts and make known to us in any way that we have displeased Him by being rebellious or disobedient to Him. Pray also that it will be the season of growth in our walk with God and godly characters development.

2)God is merciful to promise us that if only we turn away from our rebellious and wicked ways, He will answer our calls in prayers, save us, meet our needs and continue to guide us and prosper us. He will do the work of restoration as we are devoted to Him and rejoice in Him. (v8-14) Pray for Holy Spirit to do His work in our hearts and in our lives, be it in changing the heart attitude that is not pleasing to God, in changing the mindset that is contradict to Godly principles, in our conducts that are inconsiderate of others, in restoring the heart and the emotions. Pray that God may restore the joy of our salvation and as we continue to grow in Him and in our beings that we may live a life that shine for Him and people will praise our Father in heaven.
