On the passage of 'Jesus Talks With A Samaritan Woman'

I see from this passage that one ought to take initiative in starting a conversation

I see from this passage that one ought to take initiative in starting a conversation. Yes, though Jesus was tired at that point of time, it seemed to be legitimate for Him to ask her for some water. However, looking at the context here, Jews and Samaritans aren’t supposed to have any relations nor contact. Despite this, Jesus still started a conversation with her. There on, He seized all opportunities to bridge into a spiritual conversation.

Another thing that I have taken note is that as humans, we often focus on what we have and what we don’t. In short, we tend to look to our own strengths. This can be seen clearly in v11 and 12. So many a times, we look at our limitations and tell God that we are unable to make an entry or improvement in the areas/scope of our lives. We are at our wits end. We cannot seem to comprehend what is going on. And when God speaks, then we realize that we have to let go and let God. This is where we are brought to our knees in complete surrender, where we thirst and desire so much of God.

Water is used here to convey the message that everything that God wants to give us and do in our lives start from the inside out. Water is consumed. It flows into our blood vessels. It keeps us hydrated and it is a source of energy. Humans cannot last for more than a few days without water. This shows that we cannot last long without God and there is always a continuous thirst for something that truly satisfies and lasts. So what is that something? Christ is the living water which transforms lives from the inside out. Once one accepts Christ into his or her life, the inner being of that person is slowly being changed and the thirst for the things of the world die down gradually as this living water flows through his/her entire body.
